80s collage project 1Barbie brush Coke can plastic charm- I have literally hundreds of charms barrette, it once had rainbow-colored balloons on it (they chipped off) (Amie is a shortened version of my French name, it means friend) King's Island souvenir slide-viewer- inside is a picture of me, my cousin, my mother and my grandparents Swatch (of course) Showbiz Pizza arcade token Skee-Ball prize ticket Kissing Koolers lip gloss (remember these?) oval-shaped pencil I bought in a gift shop, toothbrush shaped eraser- been trying to find another of these for YEARS Mouse in costume, these were really popular in the Milwaukee area in the mid-80s Pepsi charm friendship bracelet from 4th grade (note excellent craftsmanship) rainbow ribbon from a barrette Duran Duran trading cards (Nick Rhodes being the favorite, of course) "Pepsi charm-with-real-Pepsi-inside" (that's how they used to say it) shine-free brand mascara in Electric Blue The elusive and much-coveted "oil stickers" (you pressed them and swirled the oil around inside) Polly Pocket had nothing on this girl. I used to have a bunch of these. I took them to a mechanic's once when mom got her tires rotated. I lost one in a display tire and never found it again. I was heartbroken! I wonder who found it. fruit scented pop-a-pencil (very important to inhale deeply of the fruit smell before using) Bubble Gum machine pencil. Having one of these automatically made you the coolest kid in 4th grade, for about 15 minutes. Pinwheel pencil- the other popular one. From the gift shop at the Oshkosh airport. Kids at my school (in a Milwaukee suburb) collected these. More Kissing Koolers! Shoe from that Barbie that had the pink dress with the glow-in-the-dark stars (I think the shoe glows too) Jelly bracelets My one remaining "hamburger" earring (I had hot dogs, too) Weirdly enough, the catalog where we ordered this stuff is still around, although a lot tamer now. Msg me if you want the link. Guillo Tina, my favorite Garbage Pail Kid. one uncut sheet of scrapbooking paper, glued into a 1" square shadowbox frame. I plan to add more into the blank spaces as I find stuff- I know I've got at least one poochie pencil and a boondoggle keychain I need to add WooooooWWWWWW !!!! ![]() For reasons too complicated to explain here, my 80s childhood was perfectly preserved. I kept my gigantic assortment of items on a set of bookshelves, but the cats kept mistaking them for toys.
This photo has notes. Move your mouse over the photo to see them.
I finally got the bright idea to make a collage out of some of my much-loved smaller stuff so I could look at it more often and keep it clear of the kitties. CommentsAkiko =^..^= says:This is awesome! I would love to have this.
