David Tames interviews John Herman

Omnidirectional Microphone from Giant Squid Audio Labs. (very good value, works w/ plug-in power). Third-party foam wind-screens added, essential for outdoor recording.

M-Audio Microtrack 24/96 digital audio recorder. Off-camera a MacBook Pro is being used as power source because the Microtrack ^%$# built-in battery, like all Lithium-Ions, goes south after repeated use cycles. Why is the battery not user-replaceable like on a mobile phone or digital camera?
Very creative gray matter enclosed.
JVC HA-FX33 ear buds for monitoring audio. Something with good isolation and bass response is critical. Sony MDR-7506 headphones are my favorite, but these ear buds are what go in the ultra-portable kit.
