Looks great! Did you use a roux when you made the soup?

Chef, sort of. Cooking started with finely chopped white onion, garlic and celery softened in butter and olive oil. At that point flour goes and you stir it to mix with the veg--hence the sort-of roux. (Liquids, flavoring and thyme next. Simmer, puree and fix the seasoning and serve with a dollop of sour cream.) The mac n' cheese was in a Mornay, so that started with a roux.
Saz, I am not a fan of the term "comfort food," but the idea was to make some things that were fun to cook and almost axiomatically tasty.
I will add that because the blender made a trip up the stairs, that banana daiquiris may have been made.

you had banana daiquiris too? now I'm really jealous. I always had the best ones in hawaii...

The perfect combination of foods. I love trying new versions of homemade mac and cheese. I'll have to look this one up.

Looks like a perfect winter meal to me! I'm a big sucker for both of those items homemade...My favorite mac & cheese uses carmelized onions, gryere & cherry tomatoes

Mark - that looks (and sounds) very yummy. We made Mac & Cheese last weekend, seems to go with this lovely weather we're having :( You might consider adding this and your other pic to the Mac and Cheese Love group www.flickr.com/groups/macandcheeselove/. I know Emily (JustEm) would love to see it there.

This is why I never post pictures of my home cooked meals on 365 - you guys would be so ashamed of me and my efforts if I did - looks delicious.

I noticed the thumbnail. I would have commented sooner but I wasn't hungry. Nice photo and excellent meal. Good comments from the group--you have a way to their hearts, through the stomach. Here's some advice: use a roux when making a soup.....
