Mike Golay in the studio on 10th March Us Folk![]() Mike Golay was today's guest and he is profoundly gifted and well studied both a player and a composer. His site (which he has maintained since 1996) is deeper than most and broad in spectrum both musically and otherwise.
Today he performed pieces from his latest recording Across the Bridge all instrumental, all guitar pieces like Maine Waltz which is a sample clip, there are many more HERE A page which gives 30 sec clips of the All his tunes My fave is Welcome To Funkstown which is a tune where he and Al Petteway play. Al has been a mentor and teacher so his involvement in the recording of Across The Bridge was a both a thrill and an honor for Mike, but Al's been telling Mike you are doing some incredibly fine playing too, like if I were Mike's teacher listening to him play I'd know he's learnt his lessons well and then some, as evidenced by this one smoking collaborative tune Mike does with Al. An impressive artist with two albums out the first being Half Pint also a winner of a recording, timeless, well executed, well recorded, compositional and guitar playing artistry. Great to finally connect with Mike Golay here in Portland, Maine . Mike Golay plays a stunning Berkowitz Guitar The Mics are Studio Projects which the great Rebecca Hall turned me on to ( give her some ears for sure ) and the station purchased for live acoustic performance. They are sweet . This show can be heard in three parts (MP3)= PART 1 , PART2 , PART3. CommentsWould you like to comment?Sign up for a free account, or sign in (if you're already a member). |
