This is an image I shot for a class assignment in wedding photography course I'm currently taking at Sheridan College. The assignment was to find an inspiring photo of Pearls on Pinterest and to try and replicate that photo. I found a few that I found that I really like and they were all shot on black reflective surface so I decided to make mine a long the same lines. Thankfully my wife was able to provide this awesome Pearl necklace, bracelet and earrings combo. Laura, I know you said NO earrings but I couldn't resist to keep the set together. Hope you find it in your heart to look beyond this technicality :)

I've been given the honor and opportunity to share some of my knowledge with my OCC colleagues on January 29, 2012. Me and some friends will be hosting a workshop in "studio portrait photography".

We are bringing models and makeup artist as well as a lot of gear to put on the best workshop we can. Attendees will have an opportunity to shoot as well.

Seats for the workshop have been filled, even over-filled as 26 people will have the opportunity to listen to my blabbing for a few hours. Here are a couple of posters that the club put together to advertise this event.

It's very important to always be on a lookout for the next shooting location, even when you're just taking your family shopping.  Scouting a good location ahead of time can make your job easier and more enjoyable.  Showing some snapshots of the potential background to you client will also manage their expectations.

The photos in this post are simple quick snapshots taken with a point-and-shoot camera, they show a very bright, vibrant and textured wall.  These were taken in front of the IKEA store which means this location will require a permit.
