This is SO FUCKING JAMES CAMERON. Even the
little "blades" sticking up have
the same blunt machine-grace aesthetic as
HKs.
I should have captioned it but to me this
thing is bittersweet. It's simply
inconceivably horrendous that this storyline
wasn't pursued. Jesus Christ, I can't take
it when Carrie Henn (Newt), now in her early
30's, talks nonchalantly about Jim
"detailing" his "ideas for the
sequel." If anything, before he dies,
he ought to bequeath those notes to (you and
me) we diehard fans . . .

Forgive me if I don't recall exactly what I
intended 14 months ago.
"This storyline" potentially
refers to the Aliens sequel ("Alien
3") James Cameron spoke about on the
set, back in 1985. His construction of the
surrogate family (Hicks, Ripley, Newt) was a
deliberate stepping stone into an imagined
subsequent film. I lamented the fact that he
had not anywhere publicized the details of
said vision.
And we got the studio's Alien 3 instead.
The same is true of Terminator 3.
