Thought I'd try something different!

Shot straight up one of Bertrand Goldberg's twin Marina City buildings. The lower level is parking and the second upper section is, I think, apartments. I don't know if I like the buildings - their shape is interesting - but they look a little out-of-place in amongst all the steel/glass buildings in Chicago. I guess in the 1960's, they were amazing but they have been engulfed by new styles.

This is my favourite building/structure in Chicago: the Jay Pritzer Pavillion by the amazing Frank Gehry. I could actually see the back of it from my hotel window (and the Hyatt wanted to charge me $30 to move to a "better view" - the jokes on them!). It is an outdoor concert hall and Gehry's use of metal structures is designed to give grand acoustics. The criss-crossing metal strands have speakers on them to enhance the sound.
To me, an unashamed fan of Gehry, this is just too cool.
