A photographic retelling of the trip
that sent me to the peak, no telling
what I would meet on the other side.
Iceland with a Sexy Swedish Babe in six
and a half days: Reykjavik, Geysir,
Kerið, Gulfoss, Vík, Jökulsárlón,
Norðurfjörður, Holmavik, Djúpavík,
Krossnes, and Blue Lagoon.
19 JUNE day one: geysir and frolicking
in lupines which are everywhere, gulfoss
and the wind and spray, horses, mosses,
dust storms on rugged roads, puttering
around reykjavik consuming as much skyr
as possible.
20 JUNE day two: early to rise, set off
for the black sand beach of Vík, then
drive along the southern coast through
lava fields, lupine fields, by the edges
of glaciers all the way out to
Jökusárlón, the lake at the base of the
largest glacier in Europe, where
icebergs collect and flow out to sea, we
double back to Reykjavik in the same day
with plans to stop by Skaftafell to see
Svartifoss, which we had to skip as the
road before us was long, and the hike to
get there was also. Dinner in Vík and a
darkness, fog and rain settled upon us
for the final leg back to the city.
21 JUNE day three - Our last day at
Hotel Cabin and we set off north towards
the Vest Fjords, stopping here and
there, thinking nothing can eclipse the
grandeur of the South. We leave the ring
road for route 61 and are greeted by
quite rugged roadways. The weather in
the vestfjords is quite pleasant, cool,
with light showers inland and golden
sunshine and puffy clouds out towards
the ocean. Long stretches of
countryside, farms and mountains,
snowcapped mountains in the distance. We
stop in Holmavik for the most impressive
meal of the trip at Cafe Riis, refuel
our car, make amends to revisit the town
and set off for the last stretch to
Djúpavík
