Expecto Patronum

Illustration depicting the Harry Potter trio: Harry, Ron, and Hermione in battle with a group of Dementors. I always wanted to draw a Harry Potter illustration but never got around to it. I wanted to more accurately depict the characters based upon their book descriptions rather than what the movies show. The school robes are completely black with no embellishments. Ron is quite a bit taller than Harry with a long nose and freckles (but neither are really noticable at this lighting and angle). Hermione is shorter than both of them.

I needed to accurately depict that it's rather cold so I chose a predominantly blue palette while putting a bit of frozen objects in the background that are illuminated by the patronuses. The picture is mostly black and dark due to the Dementors' magical ability to make everything cold and dark as they move in to kiss their victims. The format is rather long because I wanted to create an image I could extend across two of my monitors, something I've never really been satisfied with before.
