Vancouver In Action
This is one of those shots I took late at night of Vancouver from
False Creek. I had a lot of fun experimenting with low light shots-
this one I used a combination of LED lights and a flashlight to fill
the foreground flowers plus some ambient light
I realize this is not everyone's taste but it was fun doing it and
different for me!!
Thanks so much for looking !!

Geez Kevin, you blow me away with your work! I think this is outstanding. Now, I must've walked by this a hundred times but I've never seen it quite like this. It really blasts right off the screen.

Goodness me, is this for real? Or are the flowers added in PS? However you did it, its AWESOME Kevin!! LOVE the combination of manmade and nature....

Na, this works for me too! I think it's brilliant. And so you had to use a flashlight... eh. So what. It accomplished what your vision was, so there. Whether it's HDR or multiple shots, adding artificial light, all that matters is you are showing off what you envisioned. And here it works great. Just thought it was Hong Kong or something first with all those busy lights.

Wow, great work! Love how you lit the flowers to bring them into this night time shot. They do kinda compete for my eyeballs though.

Very nice comp and work
Thankful! (33 months ago | reply)
Further to Doug's comment. The flowers are pretty evenly balanced with the city. Cropping a bit off the bottom would put more focus on the city, or, brightening the fg even further would make the flowers the centre of interest. But a great image no matter what!

I am fairly sure this is one of the most creative cityscapes I have seen in awhile. In fact, I don't think I have ever seen a cityscape at night with a foreground full of flowers. Looks like you did a good job with the lightpainting too. Looks nice and even. Hope your hip is feeling better man.

Great image. Excellent use of your light natural and otherwise. My only nit would be that there doesn't seem to be enough separation between the city and the flowers. Either that or a bit off the bottom of the image might give it more impact.
