Zion National Park_The Watchman

Just got back from another fall photo trip this time to the Southwest where I shot primarily in Zion National Park. I went with Adrian Klein and met up with fellow Flickr members Miles Morgan (mm767cap) and Steve Turner(steveturnerphoto). We were able to do the Subway but I was not the fastest cat on the course - so sorry guys for holding you up and thank you for waiting for me !!!
This image is from a very popular spot on the bridge called the Watchmen I believe .... I went with a darker exposure because it really fit the mood at the time I was photographing this.

I also used a 5-Stop Mor-Slo to get some longer exposure and deeper reds in the image.
The ND filter is fantastic for bringing out the most color in an image due to the longer exposure needed to get enough light.

That's some wicked color Kevin! Were the clouds lit up at the same time as the Watchman or did you have to do a blend? Awesome sunset and great view of a classic!

Holy smokes, Kevin. That is some incredible reflected light on the Virgin River.

This is the first really beautiful image I've seen of this part of Zion. Usually it's the Subway or the cataracts at the end of the road...but this is spectacular.

Holy Batman, this is one beautiful shot Kevin! Probably the best of the Watchman ever! At least it ranks in the top 3 shots in my book! The light is simply incredible! The decision to go with the longer exposure was the right thing to do... you nailed this! Can't wait to see with what else you got away with... any broken tripod legs, cracked foreheads this time? ;)

Very nice. I've shot this spot before. What a bitch of a hike. I had to walk nearly 20 feet from where I parked my car.

Kevin this looks really good. I live close to Zion and frequent the area a lot. Based off your results, you timed your visit to Zion well, and your technique is excellent. It looks like the fall colors are a few weeks away from peaking- I will have to head up there soon. Well done!
