Duck in a Seattle pond

Duck in a Seattle pond

My daughter and I went down to the pond behind the house, got really low to the water, stayed low, and snapped away. She ended up getting some really nice shots, especially for being 3! This one was mine, but she is coming along really well.

Taken handheld with D7000 and 70-200 VRII.

Just testing some compression and quality differences between the .jpg and .tiff files. Anyone care to share their experiences?

Seattle Valentine's Sunset

Seattle Valentine's Sunset

Taken with the D7000 and 16-35mm VR handheld.

Just as I was taking this photo, I noticed a couple trying to set up a camera on their car to have a photo taken with this as a background. I went over and asked if they would like a photo taken. She was holding blue balloons and as I began to shoot they announced they JUST found out they were having a little boy. I took a couple of great shots of them and the balloons with this great Seattle backdrop. I sent them off to the couple today and hope they allow me to share a few here! It was nice to meet a great couple with such a look of excitement about the new journey.

Day 2 of my 365 Project for 2012

All hockey today. NHL Winter Classic made today a great day to sit back and enjoy a beer while watching two teams battle it out on the ice. Shame it's only once a year!

Day 1 of my 365 Project is Day 1 of 2012.

Putting things away from the holiday season sparked this image in my head. Played with angles and lenses until I got this and was happy. Used an unusually long lens for laying on my floor shooting up at an object, but it helped zoom in on what I wanted and also allowed me to stop down and get some depth of field. I used two speedlights. One was mounted on the camera bounced off the ceiling and the other behind the calendar at a 45 degree angle for some additional rear light.

Nikon D7000 with Nikon 70-200 VRII.
SB-900 mounted as master and SB-700 on radio using Nikon CLS. EXIF intact.

Happy New Year everyone!
