Taken October 26, 2003 at 2:35pm in San Clemente, California. During this date in surrounding Los Angeles, and San Diego counties, there were incredibly huge fires burning down houses and large areas of land. I drove to one of the beach cities to see if it was clearer by the ocean. I was wrong. The smoke gave the sky a very unusual orange hue and made it seem very post-armageddon. I was able to take this picture of the pier of san clemente with a tiki umbrella silhouetting in the foreground. The pier almost leads you to the umbrella. Unexpectedly, some lady was fixing her hair and stood up in the foreground as well, that added the element of population of people on the beach, even on an extremely unhealthy day to be outside.
