Light Brown Apple Moth![]() My 4 yr. old kid's portrait of an innocent Light Brown Apple Moth (LBAM), made for a march on Golden Gate Bridge yesterday. These moths have been classified as a type "A" emergency threat to our homeland security, despite the lack of documented scientific evidence they cause any more harm to our crops than monkeys or elephants.
Due to this erroneous classification (essentially guilty until proven innocent, without easy access to due process), millions of Bay Area residents are planning to roll over for monthly showers of toxins marked "Keep out of Reach of Children", for who knows how many years. Like the War on Terror, it could be endless, since the plan is to eradicate a moth that entomologists claim can't be completely eradicated. "...men of science point out that there is no evidence that the LBAM presents any greater threat than the dozens of other leaf rollers that live in California, and also that eradication is not scientifically possible."
