Cargill Salt Ponds
I love the colors of these ponds. These colors are just as you see them - I did not do anything to this image other than cropping and levels.
The interesting colors are from brine shrimp, algae, and other stuff growing in the ponds.
According to:
www.southbayrestoration.org/index.html
These ponds will be reverting back to wetlands. I'm going to miss
seeing them from the air on my way into SFO.

This image was used without permission again. This time they even put their own logo on it!

I've let them know. Let's see if they take it down.
UPDATE: It has been removed

Hi,
I'm sorry to hear you're having such trouble with not being credited for your amazing photo.
I belong to ISACA Silicon Valley, a non-profit organization for Security and IT Governance professionals. We're currently revamping our website, and were wondering if we could use your photo on it as representative of the Silicon Valley. We would, of course, give you credit -- we just need to know how you would like to be attributed.
Kind regards,
Kimberly

They're really a shame. :-/
Don't hesitate to contact Flickr Staff about that by the way.
They don't like their users' work being ripped off either.

I've added some ugly text to the image.
I am tired of so many people taking it for their own.
I'm going to report every infringement, but often I find it is very difficult to get things removed.

Sad to read you had to do this. Especially since a photo taken from a plane is not exactly the kind of shot that comes for free.
Keep it up, your photo is awesome and very worth money.

why are some of ponds red?

Salt pond colors are naturally produced by the microorganisms that thrive as salt levels increase.
Three microorganisms in particular, Dunaliella, Halobacteria, and Synechococcus, have influence on the colors we see.
