Amazing shot. I thought you'd got it all staged, didn't realise it was taken at an event! Event more impressive! Even got a swirl of rain in the wake of the flag.

Thank you everyone, this was virtually the last shot we took while sat ringside in this torrential downpour - these guys carried on for another hour with their performance, but us wimpy photographers retreated to the shelter of a corridor and then hid under canvas, we were soaked to the skin and I would have happily sat there for the next hour but I have a feeling that camera electronics might have objected after a few more minutes.
What I did come to appreciate though is the fact that as an open air event the participants weren't braving the weather, they were carrying on their duties in the normal way, combat , action or even drill doesn't alter because "it looks like rain". This chap galloping at full pace around and across the arena got the loudest cheer of the night by far, ok there was possibly a bit of patriotic fervor involved but I think at this point we all realised just how blindingly torrential this downpour was and he drove his steed on for all he was worth - the highlight of the night for me.

Just occasionally you come across a photo that takes your breath away. This is one of them for me. Incredibly atmospheric. Wonderful.

Well done is a bit tame, but it is very well done!

Amazing shot, in fact it's too good and almost looks staged!!
I remember the rain that night and wouldn't have wanted to be standing in it with precious camera gear, having said that, if I knew I'd come home with a shot like this I would have been out there like a shot.......

As someone else said, a shot like that instantly competes with the perfect pictures we see in movies with horrifying budgets - and it works wonderfully.
