Working with the client's existing curtains and ho-hum colonial
mantel, designer Layla Altman created a glamorous, colorful and
sophisticated room for entertaining. A metallic glaze gives dimension
to the fireplace wall. Clean-lined sofas, curvy chairs and modern
circular mirrors set the swanky tone. Bright silk pillows pick up the
glaze color on an antique garden seat used as a cocktail table, and an
eye-catching magenta velvet bench invites conversation. Under it all
is a virtually stain-proof area rug by Constantine.
