Stretching Heavenward

The twin towers of the World Trade Centre in New York, photographed on my last day there in 1989, Back in those (relatively) early days of my photographic obsession, I really didn't take too many shots of these incredible buildings. However, I'm fairly proud of most of those that I did get. While I would have viewed the events of September 11th, 2001 with horror in any case, I must confess that having actually been there and seeing how majestic they were, only emphasised the tragedy for me. My thoughts go out to all those who suffered personal loss.

I recognized this immediately as the world trade center; I also got a number of shots there over the years; I visited there many times for the fun of it. So sad to have lost this tremendous monument and everything it stood for.
