Mockingbird....(01-25-07)

Enterprise, AL, USA

This is my all time best shot of the illusive mockingbird and my favorite bird shot of all. He was there for just a moment and I just pressed the shutter and held it for several frames. I thought that I had only got his backside, but when I went to edit it, I found more.

The mockingbird is a cousin to the Brown Thrasher and the Gray Catbird. For more information about this interesting bird see: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_mockingbird

Exquisite composition with the tree branch cutting across frame diagonally. The hint of bokeh green on the right is gorgeous. A very beautiful picture. I've never actually seen a mockingbird before. :)

@ip, I was about 15-20 ft (5-7m) distance from this mockingbird. I used only the Canon 400mm f/5.6L lens on a Canon 30D camera...firmly mounted on a sturdy tripod...for this shot. No extenders.
