There's another Japanese product called
Pocari Sweat. It's a popular sports drink /
Gatorade-type-thing. This is presumably a
competing product. The name probably has
something to do with the fact that plastic
bottles in Japan are often referred to as PET bottles, which makes the name a (strange) pun.

I've been to Japan and drank Pocari Sweat. It
tasted like a watered down and flat 7-Up. and
was semi-drinkable to an average American's
taste.

Actually it looks like it is marketed by the
same company that produces Pocari Sweat:
Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co. It says Otsuka
Group (大塚グループ) above the name.

I like Pocari Sweat. But I never saw Pet
Sweat in Japan. Maybe if you drink it, your
sweat will make you smell like a dog.

So what are they really selling? Or is there a genuine demand for it in East Asia?
