I have to say that Apple's products are one of the more under-packaged out there. Very minimalist in their packaging to conserve both money, shipping space, and spare the environment.

What's even more absurd than being mailed a paperclip -- is asking Apple support for one!

Apple has a long history of using paper clips..
all of their floppy disk drives and optical disk drives had been featuring paper-clip hole since early 1980s. you push in straightened paper clip in case the disk is stuck in the drive.

Funny, they make you complete the configuration of the tool yourself. They could at least bend the damn thing for you. You should send it back claiming the tool in the picture does not match the one sent.

You have to activate the paper clip before you can use it on a stack of paper. Or maybe you void the warranty on the paper clip if you use it to clip papers together?

> "What's even more absurd than being mailed a paperclip -- is asking Apple support for one!"

Somewhere on the internet, there's a collection of Apple support line phone calls, from the 80s I think. In one of them, the customer doesn't understand what a paperclip is, and thinks that the computer should have come with one.

> "This just proves why green peace rated you at the bottom of their list for the worst environmentally friendly computer company."

Greenpeace rated Apple low because the environmental promises they'd made weren't as ambitious as other companies. They'd done more than the other companies, but their promises were less. I reckon Greenpeace focused on this because if you rate Apple bottom of a list, it's a news story, whereas if you rate Dell bottom, no-one cares.

This is almost like Apple Service Support burning a 100K file on a 600 meg cd, just because they can. They sent the store I worked at the update file for one of their Service Source program which was already on a cd. I couldn't believe they wasted a CD when a floppy disk would have done the job back in 1985
