i love having service done by apple though because you don't need anything else to do it. Everything is in the box. I replaced the Superdrive in my iMac G5 yesterday and they included a screwdriver in the box. The only thing I needed was scissors to open the box and tape to reseal it, but they've included some tape in other repairs ive had done. Applecare is completely worth the money

I concur. Apple is the only company these days that gives me the feeling they honestly care about their users' experience.

Wow, Apple gave you everything you needed to fix their faulty devices! Have you ever wondered why their machines are always over priced?

Don't you feel like you just got swindled by a huge PR machine? You have no idea you just got taken in, and instead of outrage - you love it!

Woohoo - go Steve jobs!

MenuBar and brendan hit it on the head, things fail, no matter the manufacturer or product, if I had to send mine I would appreciate having the things necessary to do so without having to hunt them down.

Actually, the optical drive was not specifically an Apple unit - it was probably made by Panasonic or LG, or somebody else. And is likely to be the same one in a PC.

"Have you ever wondered why their machines are always over priced?"

No, not really. Because they aren't?
