Boeing 314 "Yankee Clipper" NC18603

Boeing 314 "Yankee Clipper" NC18603

First flown in 1938, the Boeing 314 was the star of the Pan-American World Airways flying clipper fleet. Designed to replace the first trans-pacific airliner, the Martin M-130, the Boeing 314 was designed to provide first class service while crossing the Pacific and the Atlantic. Flown and serviced by highly trained and professional crews, the Boeing 314 could carry 36 passengers on overnight flights as well as airmail and other cargoes.

The "Yankee Clipper" was Pan American's first trans-Atlantic clipper, servicing destinations across Europe. It flew for only four years before crashing in Lisbon harbor on February 22, 1943. By 1951 all Boeing 314s had been scrapped or destroyed.

The passenger cabin was located beneath the cockpit and wings, extending into the tail section. It contained multiple lounges, a dining area, bunks, bathrooms, and a deluxe cabin. Many of the lounges could be converted into sleeping areas.
