I don't want much. Just another 37 years of being her granddaughter.![]() ![]() Today my very elderly but quite feisty and exceptionally independent grandma fell while doing god only knows what. She broke her femur and her shoulder and from what we know is in surgery right now.
My mom and sister are driving north to the hospital right now. I remember when the picture I am holding was taken. My son was just about 2 years old (eep! 5 years ago!) and the entire family, grandma included, had just gotten back to our hotel suite after a summer parade. Grandma and my son were bellied up to the breakfast bar counting the candy that was collected during the parade. There were many BAGS of candy. I was actually laying in bed to nap in the other room when I noticed them through the doorway counting their loot. I watched them for the longest time and I remember thinking that my kids are so lucky to get to know my grandma. She truly is the best there is. I wanted that moment to last forever. After watching them for a long time I finally got up and snapped the photo. It is not in focus, quite fuzzy really, and I took it from the exact spot I saw them from: sitting in the bed in the other room. To this day it remains one of my all-time favorite photos ever. A fuzzy photo is like a fuzzy memory. Better than none at all. Get well soon, Grandma!! We all love you! (Picture 29) CommentsGwen's Experiment Hobby
