I believe this is a morel which is edible but I decided not to tempt fate by eating it. No more than an inch, 2 centimeters, tall I nearly missed it along the trail.

Big Rock Falls is not really the name of these falls. I saw no indication of a name anywhere near them but there are so many falls in the area it would not surprise me if this one fell through the cracks.

Sometimes when you are surrounded by big, beautiful water falls it is the little ones that really catch your attention. This was just a feeder steam into a small river but it really caught my eye.

These rhododendron were blooming all along the trails no matter where we hiked in North Carolina offering great opportunities to stop and take a breath, I mean take a picture.

Living in Florida, which is as flat as a pancake and at sea level, made every step at elevations ranging from three to six thousand feet an effort. I often wondered if I stopped to take pictures in order to catch my breath or because the entire area we visited in North Carolina was so beautiful that I needed to capture some of that beauty. I think it was the breathing!
