_____________
A few weeks ago, Prabhakaran and I had resumed our Sunday visits along East Coast Road. As we were driving towards Mahabalipuram, my car came to a screeching halt, as my eye found this man seated in the bus stop.
I was about to walk towards him and ask him to be my subject, when Prabhakaran asked me "Are you sure you want to do this... he looks so frail and scared?"
These words did not register very well in me, as I sometimes suffer from a chronic illness called "Selective Comprehension". LOL.
As I approached him with my request, he did not hesitate one minute. He just said yes, and looked straight into our cameras. He turned out not only to be an old man, but actually a very BOLD man.
Check out the intensity of his pentrating gaze.
Photographed with a Canon EOS 5D Mark II, and Sigma 150mm F2.8 APO Macro DG HSM with Sigma DG UV Filter. Handheld.

Amazing my friend. You showed us your mastery over the macro world.. Now this portrait just reminds us how you are a master at capturing people too. Wow.. What a fabulous photograph. A Sad Man too! Somehow I feel his eyes show some worries or maybe he could be tired of the weather here at Chennai. His beard is looking good.
A cheerless old age but a great photograph from greatest photographer whose target is always capturing the highest expression through eyes and you have achieved here too in this shot !

I'm glad to see a return to your portraits, always one of your photographic strengths. The core of that strength is your ability to connect to your subjects, and that's evident here in the man's intense gaze into the camera. Excellent portrait!

The large version is really stunning and I might agree with Prabhakaran, that you might likely project your boldness on to this man, but it is nice to see a person not just by age, old, but by their qualities, not matter their length of life! I wonder what this man was thinking about a car coming to a screeching halt to have a guy jump out and ask a favor?
