Fort Totten and Jerry Reed

Fort Totten and Jerry Reed by katmere.
As soon as I took this photo an older gentleman came over to talk to me. Apparently, seeing a camera reminded him of his younger days. He had traveled the country taking photos. He started telling me about going to woodstock, and then about the draft. He told me about being in the 101st Airbourne in Vietnam, about hanging out in the 9th Ward during Mardi Gras, about walking into Disney World for free one summer borrowing his roommate's school bus driver shirts, and about what is is like to be from the mountains of West Viriginia and be from a small family with only 11 kids. I was going to take his photo as well, but a train came and he left before I got a word in edgewise. He did tell me though, that like in Smokey and the Bandit, his name was Jerry Reed. All these memories; all apparently brought to mind from seeing a camera.

how odd that some people are immediately drawn to us when we have our cameras, and some people immediately shy away. it's great that he felt open enough to share those memories with you!

onto the photo -- I love this. everyone will soon be commenting on your awesome vanishing point, so i won't ;-)

i love the color gradients, and those lines and textures. that single cone is a nice touch.

the textures and patterns are superb. The streak of light running down the ceiling is very sci-fi-noir (if such a thing exists), and a great story to go with it.

A beautiful story. Interesting things can happen in a train station.

I like your photo, mainly all those lines in circles around the tunnel wall.
