a first attempt. (there will be more!)liked the splash on this one, although the pour is kinda thick...

UPDATE: thank you THANK YOU to ya'll for commenting & favorite-ing this shot... totally boosted my confidence! this shot even made the flicker explore page! I just worked up the nerve to show it to my still life instructor giles (since this will be among my final projects for him)... and he approved. hurray! i might pass my classes... lol... :)

holy cow! thanks ya'll :) the best part about this shoot was the very last shot... rather than pouring the wine politely, i kinda.. well.. THREW the wine into the glass. and IT. WENT. EVERYWHERE. shiraz EVERYWHERE!! me & my assistants were almost on the ground, doubled over with pain from laughing.

mmm.. wine! rhebeca - i shot with a mamiya rz67 camera, with a Hasselblad digital back. i think i used a 110mm lens. i had a big softbox light directly behind the wine glass (to give it the pretty glowing look), and white cards around the camera to reflect the light back into the front of it.
update: oh, and a light underneath!

gakrid :: thanks! i was trying to remember how i set it up, and realized i posted a comment above on my lighting. but i'll recap! shot with a mamiya & hasselblad back. softbox directly behind the wine glass (it's actually the white background you see), white cards around the camera & a light underneath the glass. the trickiest part was snapping the shutter at the same time i was pouring for the right timing.

rodrigo :: glad ya think so! i've got it printed large over my desk & it looks wicked that way. totally different than on a monitor.

@kforman :: ha! well, my apologies to the wife, i suppose! get out that power pack!! these were strobes.... i needed the speed of the flash to capture this pour. sadly, i'm done with school & will have to make special arrangements to use the profoto packs & heads (rather than them being at my beck & call!) .... gotta save $$ now to buy my own heads. :)
