a boy & his bride

Our son and his sweet new wife surprised us with a visit. They flew in from the cold wet pacific northwest and were able to enjoy some days of pure Arizona sunny warmth! We were thrilled. Last Saturday we spent the afternoon walking at Veterans Oasis Park in Chandler, where I snapped their picture.

I've been working on this page in my moleskin journal for the past couple days, finished it up just now. Zig Millennium pen and M Graham watercolors.

I didn't know that any portion of the Creosote was edible!

his territory

This little hummingbird (black chinned or broad-tailed or other, birders?) had established that this was his little corner of the desert, and eyed me suspiciously for walking through his kingdom. ha ha... love the attitude they have for such tiny creatures.
