timing is everything.

i’ve heard it said a million times before and often times i disagree. i believe that there’s much more involved in the happenings in one’s life that simply timing. yesterday i was proved wrong. we took a nice little walk/hike with the babe all secured in her stroller. we walked around the lake, parts of downtown and through beautiful canopies of trees. it was one of those days where we were ever present to the beauty and magic of life. we were taking it all in and really appreciating our beautiful surroundings. amora was having a blast pointing out flowers, boats, bikes, dogs and telling us what color each runner’s shorts were. nearing the end of our trek, she asked for a snack, so we slowed down from our fast pace to fetch her food from the basket under the stroller. just as i was about to hand her something to munch on, i heard a “whoooosh” sound from above. i looked up and just above us a giant tree branch was falling, heading straight for the precious babe we had tucked into her stroller. a man came leaping from the other side of the trail as if to try to catch the branch or just take the hit for the little one. he was one second too late and it came crashing down with a BOOM. stunned, we rushed to what we were sure was going to be a badly beat up amora, but she was just sitting there. unscathed. wide eyed. in shock. a couple seconds later she burst into tears and screamed like only a petrified kid can. i held her as she cried and i inspected her body checking for some sort of physical proof of what we had just been through. nothing. she was fine.

it’s times like these when you wonder what if… what if she hadn’t asked for a snack and slowed us down for a moment? what would’ve happened to her if the branch had fallen on her? what if the guy running had gotten there in time and gotten himself struck by the falling debris?

i’m thanking my baby’s guardian angels that these are only hypothetical questions.

i am now a believer. timing is everything.

this afternoon my beautiful lil rose brought me a rose. (with the help of her thoughtful daddy, of course)

there are no words to describe the amount of pure joy i get from being this sweet girl's mama. i won't even try to give language to something that is so profound. i'll just say that even though this day is meant to celebrate us mamas, i feel like i just wanna celebrate my kiddo for making me so damn happy.

we aren't doing anything extravagant today - i'm not writing this poolside from the day spa and we didn't go to a fancy brunch. i don't expect my husband to help amora craft mother's day macaroni art. all i want today (and everyday) is to feel loved and honored. simply being the mama of an amazing, smart, affectionate, creative, kind kiddo like this one gives me that warm feeling all day every day. i am truly fortunate.

happy mother's day to all the hard-working, devoted mamas out there! my wish for you today is simply that you feel loved. <3

some babies have all the luck. meet eva kay. she has two of the most loving and coolest parents on the planet. one of them is a real life rockstar and the other is a… real life rockstar. this baby is infused with music – she’s been on the stage since she was in the womb, learning harmonies by osmosis. at 5 months young she’s already singing up a storm with her amazing parents. she coos and caaaas and ooooos and aaaahhhs and it’s just too stinkin’ cute to see how excited she gets by music. in addition to being clearly very talented musically =), eva is also one of the happiest and friendliest babies i’ve ever met. she’s always smiling and giggling and open to new people. what a lil ball of sunshine! big things await this magnetic chickadee. love, love, love her. and her amazing parents.

oh YES, it is.

we are all pretty happy right about now! (especially kitty who has been locked in a bedroom for the past 4 months. freedom awaits, shitty kitty!) after months and months of this crazy journey called buying a house, we finally have ours. life is Good. !

it’s gonna take a week or two before it’s ready for us to move in, but i might just go sleep on the floor tonight to celebrate. =)
