564 Mile Walk.

You might be amused/shocked by the medium of it. Judge away. We're judging ourselves, too.

(It's also going to make me feel like I should be going to school in NYC........)

It's to gain perspective. Bigger world, smaller problems. To remember how delightfully insignificant I am. When I stay in one place, I start constructing a life around myself. I starting thinking I'm in control. I'm not in control. I don't want to be in control. I don't know what I'm doing, what I want, what I need. Not really.

I can't construct my life. That's not what I'm here for.

So, instead, I want to move. To revolve around everything else. To hide as the insignificant traveler at the train station. To trade in my illusion of control for true meandering and find myself in those unexpected, inevitable instances...

The day I missed my flight across the ocean,
got stuck ("stuck) in New York, never having been to the city before,
was told by my dad not to stay in a hotel room on the ground floor and to check the closet before going to sleep,
slept in a Delta-provided t-shirt,
spent a small fortune on taxi fares,
pretty much saved the day for an angry Italian man repeatedly yelling at the hotel clerk demanding "l'indirizzo dell'albergo!",
strolled New York City with Emily for a whole four hours,
and was refused eye contact by a puppy in a lamp store.

It was a really, really good day.
