Taj Mahal Soft - Inside Pages

Hard covers are fun, but after making some soft covers to teach the kiddos I nanny how to bind, I thought there might be interest in them.

This book is 6 inches wide by 5.25 inches tall by about 1 inches thick (at the bound edge). The papers have bold colors and intricate patterns that remind me of Indian temples.

The pages are all hand cut. Each signature contains 36 pages (18 leaves) of 22 lb., unlined writing paper and is wrapped in a sheet of decorative paper that coordinates with the covers. With 9 signatures, this book contains 360 pages (180 leaves).

Each book is bound using the Coptic stitch, which means that the book will lie flat while in use. For the binding on this one, I used white mercerized cotton thread. To hold the soft covers shut, I've attached a blue ribbon to the front and back covers.
