07/08/2008 (Day 2.220) - Glastonbury Boots
Whilst I think these boots have made the odd incidental appearence in my photostream before, I don't think they've ever been featured directly. So here they are.
They are called 'Glastonbury Boots' because that was where they were made. The shoe company, Clarks, had a factory there for years (may still do, I have no idea) but laid off some workers years ago. Some of them put their skills to use making unique footwear like this. I bought these at a craft fair some 16 years ago. They've been resoled once, and are looking a bit battered, but are still sturdy and comfortable; quality footwear. The rainbow laces are a later addition. The floor is that in a cafe called MoMo in Staines. At some stage the original mosaic was damaged, and it has been renovated with a new, contrasting mosaic showing water and goldfish. It looks odd, but very striking. A year ago today I showed off my dice collection. CommentsThere's A Kite!
