NYPD - Closing the Net
The NYPD fenced in the demonstrators.
A New York Times article: NYPD White Shirts of Police Dept. Take On Enforcer Role describes the police actions taken against the protestors.
The Occupy Wall Street demonstration stormed the Brooklyn Bridge. They marched on the Brooklyn bound lane shutting down traffic. The NYPD stopped the march around the middle of the bridge. The NYPD started pushing the crowd back. In response, the crowd sat down. The police provided an exit for those willing to leave. Hundreds stayed and were arrested.
