4th of July boardwalk parade led by Fireman and son in Davis Park, Fire Island
This image was taken for the Fire Island Tide, a newspaper dedicated to life on the barrier island and published 8 times between Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends. Davis Park is a community of 270 homes plus a 200 boat marina looked furthest to the east of all the hamlets. Each year they have a fourth of July parade sponsored by the Davis Park Association. The Davis Park Fire Department leads the parade which, due to the 6 ft wide boardwalks, excludes everything but small vehicles. Families and housemates decorate their wagons and wear costumes honoring current political themes and parade through the sister communities of Ocean Ridge and Davis Park. Prizes are given to those whose themes are judged best.
