Rhino Beetle

Rhino Beetle by kahunapulej.
If you find insects fascinating, Papua New Guinea is a great place to
come. This is a rhinoceros beetle (Xylotrupes Uylsses), a strong bug so intimidating that it can make poisonous spiders run away just by hissing at it. Some bugs around here are big enough that you really don't need a magnifying glass to study them. Of course, if you do use a magnifying glass or microscope, some interesting details show up. I was tempted to wash the mud off of this bug's horns for this picture, but then decided to go with the more authentic look in the state I found it.
