As with my other shots further north, I was having much better luck in the late afternoon here in Santa Barbara County canyon. The madding (and maddening) crowds had gone home and I was able to get this shot of a beautiful hillside covered in phacelia, fiddleneck, lupine and monolopia. On the ridge behind, California poppies have turned bronze-orange in the setting sun. I really love light at either end of the day. It's Mother Nature's warming filter...
