Monolopia Monopoly

As with my other shots further north, I was having much better luck in the late afternoon here in Santa Barbara County canyon. The madding (and maddening) crowds had gone home and I was able to get this shot of a beautiful hillside covered in phacelia, fiddleneck, lupine and monolopia. On the ridge behind, California poppies have turned bronze-orange in the setting sun. I really love light at either end of the day. It's Mother Nature's warming filter...

Please come follow my latest endeavor, the Wildflower Conservancy. You'll find lots of helpful information as well as reports from recent wildflower sightings. Thank you!
