One of my favourite towns in Umbria, this is the path leading to the main piazza where the cathedral sits. Many historic towns have a totally different atmosphere at night. Often a more romatic air settles over the town, bathed in light, quiet, after the day trippers have left. Spoleto, unlike many other towns which rest on hilltops, is located at the head of a large, broad valley, surrounded by mountains. It was chosen by Menotti as the venue for an arts festival and the rest as they say is history.
