Cobblestone Bridge

This is one of the 17 bridges on the Carriage Roads in Acadia National Park that were meticulously engineered and constructed to complement the landscape. This is the only one done in cobblestone - the rest are granite. As you can see from the date on the bridge, this was built in 1917.

As a side note - we have been dealing with critters around our house lately. We had a squirrel in the attic space last year that we managed to get rid of (he was sealed in with the new siding and soffit), while we were on vacation this year a family of raccoons moved into the attic by climbing up our pergola and breaking through the soffits - they moved out on their own thankfully and now I have discovered I have a mouse that has moved into my car! Any suggestions on how to get a mouse out of a car - I don't even know where he is - I just see (and smell) evidence that there is one.

I wish you good luck with that mouse. I wonder how he got in the car, maybe he likes riding around. I am so afraid of mice, they are so cute in pictures, but I don't want one near me.

Those critters just seem to like to live around humans for some reson. I think I have seen at least two of everything. I just don't want any skunks. LOL

I sympathize with you on the critter front. We've spent a lot of money evicting, repairing and preventing further incursions by raccoons and squirrels.

lovely bridge...it sounds like a nice park to visit! Sorry to read about the mouse in your car. My grandparents-in-law have a mouse problem in their car. They set traps on the floor and have caught at least one... they are now trying mothballs to keep them out (apparently the mice don't like the smell)

Yikes ... you have had your share of problems.
Buy the sticky-traps. Set some food in the middle to bring the mouse into it. I'm positive it will work. The only problem is disposing of the mouse, as it may be stuck but still alive. Alternatively, do a snap-trap with peanut-butter on the end. You will find it dead in the trap. Good luck.

I just love this bridge, to cool. As for the mouse try a cat. :)))) We have a biggggg mama coon that gets into everybodies garbage around here. Not nice of her. :-))

Sticky traps are horrible! mothballs usually do the trick...few things like the smell and you don't need a lot.

Looks like a great holiday spot - - regarding your mouse - snap trap - - I've had a lot of luck by simply using a grape as bait - no mess, simply use a thread to tie it on the trap.

as for the mouse we have these plastic mouse traps and we add peanut butter in them. they love peanut butter. we've caught 6 within the last year in our garage. I'm too afraid to get them after the fact and I ask hubby to dump it out.
