This is a partner photo to one I posted yesterday. On a suggestion from some of you I cropped the photo some more and tinted it sepia tone.
Explored.

These shots affect me so much. I like the sepia but can not choose which I prefer. You get such beautiful colour and it provides a contrast to the subject matter...the sepia one saddens me more...so it is probably more effective then ( I think I am thinking out loud!).

I do love the shot with his beseeching hands...

Interesting...I definitely like it much better with the cars cropped out and I agree with the comment above that it looks "sadder" without colour (I thought it would look more powerful, more moving, without the colour and I think it does...). I also like the red of the shopping cart in the original - both very good...I suppose it depends on how much you want to "move" the viewer with the desaturation...it's a very powerful photo.

Though I'm a color fanatic, the sepia adds mood and has much more impact in this case. The color is too pretty - and this is not a pretty sight... a very sad reality in our big cities today.

This is a great phortograph! As has been said, very powerful! A strong societal statement in a single image.
