Roseate

Roseate

Going through my Florida photos - I had forgotten I got this photo of the beautiful Roseate Spoonbill. This was in the Everglades. Wishing we were going to FLorida again this year but with all our home renovations (still underway), it just doesn't make sense unfortunately.

Drying the wings

Drying the wings

Sorry for the inundation of Anhinga photos. These are a series from our trip to Florida last year - just came across this one that I hadn't noticed before. I was surprised to see the water lines from the water coming off the wings.

Having fun revisiting our Florida trip (nearly a year ago now). This Anhinga was drying his wings after diving and swimming for fish. They are master swimmers and divers (note his big webbed feet). They use the long, sharp beak for spearing fish.
Seen along our walk in the J.N. Ding Darling Nature Preserve on Sanibel Island (my favourite place ever!)
