I created this mock-up for a proposed update to the profiles of the Website tokbox.com back when the site hosted its own video-forum community.
1. Main Profile Box
I added a user statistics section, corresponding to the different filters in the feed bar (See 2) In doing so, I removed the post statistics from post boxes (ex. 5), the information usually isn't relevant to what a TokBox member needs to know when watching another members video post. These statistics could also possibly show up individually in each feed, rather than in the main profile box.
Another change that is tok-box employee specific is the addition of the tokbox logo next to an employee's name. In the possible future case of TokBox user-moderators, a modified logo could be used.
2. Feed Bar
The bar in this location previously only had one feed, that of the
TokBox Member's public posts, and then the friendslist.
I have added two new feeds, and removed the friendslist, in favor of
its own speciali=zed section of the profile. (See 3)
The feed bar's purpose would be to provide easy access to that user's activity on TokBox, either for their friends to use as a way to keep up with themself, or for that specific member to be able to return to something they had to do with before.
The comments feed in the feed bar would include public posts that the user has made comments in, and the Wall Posts would archive posts the user has made on another user's wall. (see 6)
3. Friends
The friends list that was previously available on tokbox provided a
collumn of mini-profiles - what used to be the main profiles of
previous versions.
All in all, there was too much information about OTHER members on any
one user's profile.
This Friends Box shows only a user's photo, and when the mouse hover's over a photo, THAT user's online status and name show up. Clicking on this picture will take a TokBox user to that person's profile.
To either side of the box, there are opauqe aarrows that only appear when the mouse is near them, clicking on these arrows scrolls through the profile pictures of the rest of the friendslist.
This New Friend's Box also takes advantage of the space to the right side of the tokbox web-page, which as of yet is a space largely unused by the site.
4. Video Profile
This is where a TokBox user can record a video telling a little bit
about who they are, or how they opperate on tokbox, they could show
off something about themselves thy are proud of, or use it for
whatever other purpose they feel like.
Unfortunately, due to size constraints, this video would have to be smaller than most others.
5. Comments Feed
6. Wall
Here, user's can comment on annother's profile, either to say
something abuot their picture (pictures, maybe - in the future) or
their video profile, or just communicate with them.
This feature would also provide user's with a form of time-shifted
communication that doesn't require recording a video - something which
is as of yet, not available on tokbox.
