October Rust

October Rust

Looks best large, of course.
This old truck was sitting at a Pumpkin Patch in Clarence, NY.
This HDR is actually tonemapped from one Raw image shot with my 11-16mm lens.
I didn't have a tripod, and the Mrs was anxious to grab some pumpkins, so I didn't have time to bracket some shots out.

I don't usually like over-saturated HDR images, but I did like the contrast of the blue paint and thr rust and lights.

Just testing out (on myself) a few light concepts, along with the "draganizer" action in Photoshop. I've never really used a preset action that someone else created (in this way) but it worked out pretty well. Beyond the action itself, I did my own dodge, burn, highlights, sharpening and hue adjustments.

Shot remotely with my D7000 and 50mm prime.

Probably looks best large, but still not loving what Flickr does to compress photos.

Defiant

Defiant

I found this tree odd as it sits directly on a large rock. It almost seems like it is slithering over it.
Three exp. HDR with Orton effect added.

Startrail - First attempt

Startrail - First attempt

Well, I wasn't completely prepared to take this shot, but I tried it anyways. While camping in the Adirondacks, I set up my Nikon D7000 on the tripod and aimed my 11-16 towards the night sky. I wanted to shoot to the north, but the tree cover didn't allow it. I then realized I didn't have my remote trigger. Great. So I looked through the menu and saw that I could take up to 9 30 second photos in a row. So every 4.5 minutes, I hit the shutter again until I got tired of doing it (about 72 photos) and called it a night. As you can see, I screwed up once and let some time lapse between photos.
Overall, I think it turned out okay for my first try, but I am anxious to do it again, and do it right next time.

**If anyone has any tips on the best way to capture startrails with a D7000, please feel free to share. Thanks**
