My assistant Lee Mousseau sitting in to get our lighting right for company portraits.

Strobist info: a grided Elinchrom softlighter with a bxri 500 above and pointing down on the subject (light on the wall is created by the falloff from this light) fill is from an elinchrom Quadra Eco Ringflash. For the final images, we brought the power up on the ring a bring up the shadows.

Another family photo, they had this great long living room so I couldn't resist doing a composite panorama of the space.

To help keep the pano clean, I used a Really Right Stuff Panning clamp & multipurpose rail, to make sure I was panning on the nodal point of the lens.

Strobist info: I created an "ambient" light with an Elinchrom bxri 500 bounced off a wall at camera left, which flooded the room. I then brightened up the corner with the potted plant & bookshelf with a LP160, behind the "master" chair with a LP160 and a 580exII in the fireplace with two CTS gels to create an orange glow. Finally a Lastolite hotrod stripbox was placed at camera right and behind the mother (there was actually a window there so light from this position would make sense.

To create a bit more shadow and drama to the subjects, I had an assistant hold a 24" gridded Lastolite ezybox at angles that would mimic the natural light (so mostly from the rear door & window) to give the subjects some motivated lighting. All triggered with Elinchrom Skyports.

There's some lighting info here too - I have an Elinchrom Quadra hitting a white wall at camera right to fill in the mid-ground and an Elinchrom BXRI fruther down camera right through a midi octa to light the couch & chairs at the far end of the room

A composite family portrait that I had shot a few months back, but had to make some revisions on from the original for the family (the son went from a Yellow to Orange belt in the time since we shot them).

Strobist info: we had three fixed lights: an elinchrom quadra shooting through a 3x3 lastolite skylight outside, directed at the wall you see through the window.

Another Quadra through a 100cm Deep Octa on-axis literally just over the camera lens, for fill light.

We used two *moving* lights to light the family, for the mother and son we had a lastolite hotrod strip softbox in-behind them as kickers and used a 24" ezybox as key (both with 580exII's), the dad just had the ezybox, and we used the strip light in the foreground for the daughter.
