Postcard from China

Made in China
Postcard from China by jurvetson.
I have not seen the sun for days, but I finally found a data jack.

The uniform sky gets a bit dis-orient-ing

as if I were in the Matrix

and then I see the Eiffel Tower replica in the haze.

A replica of the Eiffel Tower... in China. It is, but it isn't itself.
Maybe you better not eat the "chicken."

A friend of mine described his six months in Shenzhen as a "Blade Runner-ish' experience.

taro et rocket: I am sipping bits from a straw here, so I'll post more when I return.

gdsanders: yes! Blade Runner by night, Matrix by day... a virtual pirate ship of atavistic futurism...

Looks and sounds like Tim Robbins experience in "Code 46" - he was in Shanghai, working as an intuitive detective...and the sun never shone.

(So, what else do they have besides the Eiffel Tower? No Statue of Liberty, I presume...)

You see, sis, chinese are expeditious people, so instead of making a lot of replicas hither and yon... they made 1 big replica.

Of Las Vegas. ;)

Yes, poking up in the distance.

P.S. What fun to rediscover this comment thread... thanks.

I just got back from another trip and there is still no sun... They are going to try to clear the air for the Olympics by shutting down the nearby power plants for a few weeks. If it works, I wonder how the local people/politicians will respond once they know it could be better... A glimpse of the sun could be enlightening
