J-Prize Competition

Newer Older

The first sounding rocket competition entrant from “Three Amigos”

The upper stage cocked into the wind and went horizontal toward Gerlach (making recovery quite tricky)

The 30K competition is still ongoing, and will soon be joined by a rover deployment competition.

That is Bob Feretich's rocket. More info can be found here www.feretich.com/Rocketry/superarliss.html

    awesome links.

RocketGuy1317: I like the detail and build photos on that page. It really gives a sense of the effort behind just one of the many projects that flew that weekend.

Actually, two of the Three Amigos designed and built this rocket, Grant Saviers and Bob Feretich. While the second stage wind cocked into the 40kt winds aloft and was sighted as a UFO at 21,000' in Gerlach, both stages sans nosecone were recovered 3 miles south of the launch site. We'll be back!
