Rocket-eye’s View
From about a half-mile up… Half Moon Bay looks more like a crescent moon from here. You can see a faint smoke line leading up to the rear of the rocket with two fins against the sky. (update: The Wavecrest parcel of land at the bottom of the frame was just protected by POST - November 2007)
The on-board camera captures the launch and some of the parachute return. I posted the video on Revver. (mirror reflected image, no sound) From the ground, it just roared out of sight with a motor 4x larger than it was designed for. We had a very low wind day that made recovery of the video footage possible! Details: Estes Oracle video cam nosecone on a Blue Ninja Rocket, modified to take an Aerotech F21-8 composite motor.
