In honor of the new "Failure Mode" Flickr group I went looking for the first failing thing I could find. Of course there are many to choose from.
This screen is failing in a typical way - first, it is near the handle of the door, where a careless person (or one with an armload of boxes) might lean to open the door. Second, it's at a stress riser, where the screen bends around the attaching gasket.

This looks sort of like the window screen in my bedroom. Last spring, a House Finch tore many filaments out to build a nest.

Steven Reid's new bike frame failed in a recent race - the top tube broke. Maybe we could get a photo of that.
