Bali Amed, Indonesia, Feb09 |
Amed is a little fishermen village on
the North coast of Bali. But when I say
little, it's little! So little actually
that none of the guide mention it and we
don't actually know what we went to do
there! Bon, I exaggerate a little, we
heard through the grapevine that the
place was lovely and preserved and the
black volcanic sand beach and the diving
was worth the detour.
We stopped on the way at the water
palace, a palace built by a king to
celebrate... the water! Emily and I had
a little plung in the holy swimming pool
although it was raining and Indonesians
were washing their hair in the basin
nearby and there was a toothbrush at the
bottom of the swimming pool (bah yes, we
had to didn't we? It was holy!)
I doubt the rest of the set will be
uploaded tonight but, in a word, Amed
was lovely but under the rain, there
wasn't much to do so we stayed in the
bungalow and played cards and when we
went for lunch outside the following day
thinking we would have a little rest
from the rain, the rain caught us and so
hard that some rivers were going across
the village! Good fun though! :)
