Sewing Machine

if I remember, you fill your bobbins here
you have to press here to start filling the bobbins. the needle will keep jumping like a crazy. be careful.
tension adjusts. it used to be in the front part of the machine. (!) lol
thread goes through these holes first...top to bottom
I think itsto make the wheel work here. not for bobbines..
loop for your thread that goes up and down...
Sewing Machine by Julie K in Taiwan.
I don't own a sewing machine (had one in Canada but gave it away after I relocated to Taiwan). My mother-in-law lets me use hers, but to be honest, I'm a bit scared of it! Bwahahahaha.

Does anyone know anything about this machine or tips on how to use it?

Hey,

Nice machine. It should be easy to figure out how to use it. It's workings are a copy of the Singer Model 15's, so a manual for a 15 will show you how to thread and operate it. www.needlebar.com has one you can download, as does the Smithsonian website (in their trade literature section).

Threading goes from the spool pin, through the slot at the top of the faceplate, down through the tension discs, then over a small bar, then under the take up spring, through the take up arm, and then down across the front of the faceplate to the guide just above the needle, and then through the needle.

To add to the other instructions for bobbin winding, if you hold the handwheel, and turn the disc inside away from you, that should disengage the clutch inside the machine, so that the needle doesn't continue in operation whilst you wind the bobbin.

Hope that helps.

Very cooool... it would be a shame not to use this Singer Model 15 copy. It is very strong and they have a nice straight stitch quilters love.

Cool shot, I will give you one tip, and that make sure you use the correct size needle for the size of thread you will be using. Most trouble comes with too small of needle (as in the eye of the needle) and too thick of thread. It won't flow very nice and you can get skipped stitches and loops etc. Hope this helps. Looks like you have posted this a while ago, so you will propbably be well used to your machine by now.
